adminOsijek-Baranja county organised the sports conference following its nomination for European Sports Region 2024. bringing together numerous athletes, Olympians and sports workers from Slavonia, Croatia.
The conference was held in the European Parliament in Brussels, September 5th 2023, attended by Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac, Prefect of Osijek-Baranja County Ivan Anušić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Tomislav Družak, Head of the Department of Sports of the European Commission Florencia Van Houdt to name a few.
Panel discussion on the topic ‘European role in sports: supporting local and regional communities’ invited Pannonian Challenge representative Aljoša Vojnović to take part in the panel discussion. He spoke on the topic of volunteering in sports as an important factor for youth development. On that occasion, he presented the work and the results of the VSport project so far to over 70 attendees who were all either representatives of public bodies in sports or sports club members and acknowledged athletes. He emphasised the importance of volunteering in sports and presented how Pannonian Association works on promoting and further improvements in the field through Erasmus projects.
